Hmm, the pricey choices are of course good: Konica Hexar (2/35mm lens!),
Ricoh GR-1 (28mm lens), etc...

I very recommend "Olympus Mju: II", it comes with a 2.8/35mm lens, and this
lens can easily RIVAL slr 35mm primes, at middle apertures!!! Yes, I tested
it, under 15x loupe... At middle apertures, it really shines. Wide open,
it's worse, of course, but still better than any normal compact.

I can only recommend this camera. It's also VERY small. Almost too small.
If they could make it more pro, I would use it often, but it has the usual
failings of compacts - no easy flash controls (you have to press button
twice to set flash off, I don't flash with 400-3200 films in it often), it
focuses AFTER press of shutter release (so adding some lag). BTW, DON'T set
the flash to red-eye reduction (on any camera). It fires off a series of
small flashes before exposure, increasing the shutter lag to full 1-2 seconds!

If you know how to master its limitations, it's a wonderful camera.
