Pricewise though, the Olympus Stylus cameras are a real bargain, especially if you can
find the older, original Stylus. While it has only a 35/3.5 lens, you are only losing
about half a stop over the Stylus Epic (Mju II). I picked one up when the Stylus Epic
was released because the local camera stores were almost giving away the original
Stylus cameras. I think I found mine for $69, brand new, at one of the chain discount
stores, while the new Stylus epic was going for about $125.
However, the original Stylus is not weatherproofed like the new one, so if that is an
issue, you should go with the Epic. But, either of these two cameras will take
excellent pictures for a compact, rivaling SLR quality. I've also been able to get
decent slides as well, provided the lighting is not tricky or contrasty.
