Theres nothing to catch the imagination of the P&S

It is not about switching, it is about getting new
users for the pentax system. This is vital for the
system. E.g. the Leica R-system seems to die a slow
death; this is essentially because they have no entry
level stuff and not because they have bad lenses or
because the R8/9 is not sexy enough. Only few will
switch to Leica because switching is so expensive. So
they are dying with their users.

sorry Pl, I don't understand the depressive mood of
this. It is just a good camera, so what a big
diappointment. For my part, I dunno if it is sexy or
not - nobody has seen it in nature of has handled it.

I have the feeling that some people on this list
complain by default. Fact is that the *ist D is
targeted to a wide range of potential users. This is
the right thing as they must find new users. Only if
they broaden their user base by attracting new users
(this will mostly be kids and students), it will in
the long run make sense for them to launch more
connoisseur or (semi-)pro products, including the long
anticipated flagship (see above, the Leica fate).

For me the key question is, will this thing do the job
or not. And it looks as if it will. Now we have to see
if the price will be right ... BTW I have heard the
Euro price of the D10 will be at around 2200.

Enjoy,
Alexander
Enjoy,
