The only real similarities that are obvious between the Pentax and the Nikon
is the control dial on the left side top, and the shutter button and I/0
switch placement. I just don't see where else they could have put those
controls and kept any ergonomic viabiltiy with the camera.
The profile of the prism is very different, and the profile of the body is
only similar to the extent that both cameras are 35mm style platforms, both
styled according to the era of manufacture.
The small size will likely have a tremendous impact. Look at the trend in
P&S cameras (where the mass market shops) over the past decade. They have
all gotten smaller. Have you seen that tiny little Sony?
If people really wanted to by cameras that required a Sherpa to haul around,
the manufacturers would have responded by making larger cameras.
That they are responding to the marketplace by making them smaller all the
time speaks volumes about what people really want.
