Looks can deceive those uneducated

I don't think so, the the biggest ergonomic plus the Oly E-series have over the 
bodies that you cite as their competition is that they are large enough to 
provide a dedicated button for commonly used photographic functions, ie it's 
fast to use as there is virtually no need to dig through menus.
