I'm pretty certain the RFS 3600 was indeed built by PIE: Certainly used the same 3600 dpi CCD and scans across the short axis of the frame rather along the long axis, like every other scanner I'm familiar with. Don't know how similar the rest of the internal electronics are, though. The final revision of the Kodak software was much improved over the original and the SilverFast software that also came with the scanner is really excellent. You have to use the Kodak software for scanning an entire film strip but I use SilverFast whenever doing a critical scan for a print. -- Mark Roberts Photography and writing www.robertstech.com
