Hi Alin,

I don't quite understand this post. In my original message I acknowledged
that web images are lo-res and that I detected a difference even when
viewing the original 1st gen image.

Then it seems I get a short lecture about digital images and at the end you
make an inference about beginners, complaining about zooms, and that the
feeble link may be the technique.

I don't get it. Tell me if I'm being too sensitive.

For arguments sake though, I'd find it preferable to start with the 1st gen
image being as sharp as possible and let it degrade from there when
displaying on the web, vs starting with a less-than-perfect image and trying
to retouch it to look better.

Now - am I saying zooms produce less-than-desirable results? No - not
necessarily. I think most of my PUG submissions were done with zooms.

The biggest reason I can see for using primes is that they make ME work
harder before pressing the shutter release. That could be the single
biggest visible difference I see in my results.

Tom C.
