Have you tried both lenses then (A* 85/1.4 and FA* 85/1.4)?
I admid that I haven't but there are people I trust who has. Whats more I have
experience with lenses that are comparable in quality; eg. A* 135/1.8.
Also on this subject; they guy who design the FA* lenses have said that the A* lenses
were designed with resolution and optical quality in mind with little regard to cost
and expenses, while the FA* design had more emphasis on things like bokeh and cost(!).

Its definitely true for me and I do not expect anyone to take it at face value. When
that is said, theres very little disagreement among PDML regarding Pentax lens
quality. Theres a lot of common wisdom among Pentax users something that makes this
forum so great. You can trust to get true evaluation of lenses here if you ask.

I think you should trust your own exoerience and not CDI.
Also, it would have been a tragedy if someone avoided buying one of the great Pentax
lenses because CDI said it was mediocre. Similarly, some who buy five star rated
pentax lenses may be in for a dissapointment.
