Alan, I don't doubt what you say is true but I don't understand how it is possible. Guess I'm an optical theory lightweight.

Recently I got my SMC M35/2.8 lens. It looks almost new, I can hardly find any signs of it being used. Still I have a question.
Though I haven't developed a film that was (partially) exposed with this lens, I already can notice quite heavy vignetting in the viewfinder of my ZX-L. That is, the corners of the image are way darker than the center. And I am pointing the camera at blank window on my computer screen or at evenly colored and illuminated wall...
It looks very odd to me. Can it be that my sample is optically defective?
