One minor problem with your theory. The Pentax DA 16-45 is a reduced image circle lens designed for the APS sized digital sensor only, it won't work with your Z-1p.
I don't see film dying out. Cheap quick processing will probably go much earlier, but there is still enough of a difference in the "look" of an analog print from film and a digital print that some "fine artists" will keep film prints alive. You have 2 exceptional and one very good Pentax lenses. As pentax has entered the digital arena should the need or desire to go digital arise you have a decent lens set to use with it, more so then your girlfriend's Canon lens set (I'm assuming that none are L series). Using a rangefinder is different from using an SLR so what feels better plays a part in your decision. My understanding is that exceptionally good SLR lenses are more difficult to design then rangefinder lenses, so it might not be fair to compare the Limited lenses with the G2 lenses. Also, if you go with the G2 you won't have access to anything longer then a short moderate telephoto. I hope this helps a bit.
