difference being a ring introduced to keep the Max aperture to 2.0. It may be available for
less money and it's a bit more of a rarity from what I can gather if you're into that sort of thing.
I personally like the SMC-T 50 1.4 more but then I'm still shooting film and that may make a difference. I think the center sharpness of the 55 may be a bit better when stopped down to f/8.0 or so.
