The battery optimiser on my HP notebook suggests once every 90 days for a full discharge and recharge cycle. In between the battery is likely to stay pretty close to fully charged; I rarely use the system anywhere where it isn't plugged in to a wall socket (less than 2 hours on a full charge. But the system wasn't bought for field work).
