I agree wholeheartedly. Panoramics are good for some things, but I like to 
pick out the details as well. Attempt to capture little bits of essence of the 
scene. That can be with macro or not. Like recent beach shooting, also 
photographing some seaweed.

I think if done right, focusing on some limited, smaller aspects of the 
landscape can somehow convey the WHOLE landscape. Because that is what our eye 
tends to do, sweep the scene then focus in on the details.

Well, it's a working theory anyway. And one I will keep trying to prove to 
myself.
