Cotty,

New batteries have their shelf life extended by storing them in cooler
temperatures.

I had a friend who was moving and wanted me to dispose of the batteries at a
recycler on base. For fun I went through the bag of batteries with my
checker and found maybe 10% of them to be bad.

So with my new supply of batteries that I could not use in a short time I
decided to put them in the fridge. The pile has dwindled down a bit, but
still quite a few in there... These are not the rechargeable types, they
are all alkilines I believe.

Some free time this weekend - and knowing full well that this has probably
already been answered - but since the query was addressed to me I figured I
would respond.
