I found some info on the web a while ago pertaining to using USM on Kodak
Photo CDs. It basically recommended viewing @ 100% , in Lab mode, Lightness
channel. The amount (amount controls the strength of the filter) recommended
was 100, the radius (radius control how many pixels in from the color edge
are affected) varied from .25 (lowest res) to 4.0 (highest res) with the
threshold @ 2 (threshold controls how different the colors on opposing sides
of an edge have to be before the filter goes to work). This has become my
starting point. It still is basically trial and error for me but I find by
starting out with these settings I am generally in the ballpark.
Hope this helps.
