That (SAFOX II) is the same AF system as in the PZ-1p, right? In that case your experience is exactly the opposite of mine. I find that the MZ-S almost always guesses right on how to focus, while the PZ-1p is far more prone to guessing wrong, spinning the lens all the way to the stop, and only achieving focus in the return directon (this is particularly true when the lens is currently focussed a little closer than the object). I'll probably be checking the *ist-D AF tonight at a Halloween party.
