I believe you'll find all of the pure mechanial bodies
to be stepless. The detents are in the dials only, and not
in the mechanism. The linkage is linear between them --
there are no gear swaps like in a transmission. The net
result is that, if you want an exact result based on a
spot meter reading, a particular film and developing method,
and a particular paper (for those who are into this precision),
then you can get it here.
It's sort of like the difference between tube and transistor
amplifiers. Yes, you can hear the difference. No, you may
not care. The minute difference is there. It's whether you
want/need it or not.

I found that the shutter is stepless
at low shutter speeds. Is it stepless
at _all_ shutter speeds, like the MX?
If not, where does it become stepless?
