Hi Team,

Due to the extraordinary efforts of a fellow PDMLer located in Japan I now
have SE-60 focusing screens fitted to my LXen. The SE-60 is a Matte field
only screen (the same designation as the old SE-20) however there is no
distracting centre sweet spot, the view is totally unimpeded. The screen is
bright, crisp and has a very fine focusing surface grain. Looking at a view
through the screen now is like looking at a good slide through a Pentax lupe
:-)

I spent most of the afternoon just looking at boring objects though my fast A
series glass, truly amazing. I tested the performance in the dark and I have
found that I can now reliably focus on low contrast objects far better than
with my Leica M6 range-finder (the LX meter was reading 2s at
f1.8/ISO3200). Cool.

The Screen-lens compatibility table indicates that the A 20f2.8 "becomes a
little too dark to see subject" however although it showed some vignetting at
the corners it was still quite acceptable (as I know what I will get on film).
The SE-60 is now my default LX screen, long live the LX :-)

PS Wanna try some predictive focus tests at a Karate match under available
light, just joking wouldn't want any AFers disappointed :-D

Cheers,

Rob Studdert
