they don't have any threads in front. the lens cover is two pieces, one of which is a slip on that happens to be 82mm thread. with that on the lens, you can use 82mm thin filters on the 15-30. i am guessing the same will work on the 12-24, but i don't know how much vignettting there will be. Pentax needs to release a 12mm limited DA prime that can take filters in front.
