From what I've read, the Super Program, although it is marked as having a 1/125 flash synch speed (though it doesn't work at all without batteries), it actually measures at 1/90 on tests. So perhaps the ME Super has the fastest flash synch speed of Pentaxes of this era.
The Super Program adds not only program mode and aperture readout in the finder with A lenses, but also depth of field preview when in aperture priority mode.
It's a nice camera. My ME Super was stolen, otherwise I would still own it. Personally I'd recommend a Super Program if you can find one - it's nice to have shutter priority (assuming you have A lenses). But the ME Super is an excellent aperture priority or manual camera. It even does one thing better than the Super Program - it works (at 1/100 shutter speed) without batteries.
Yes, the ME Super I had was the best sounding of any Pentax I've used. I remember the sound as a wonderfully damped "snick." One of my two MXes has a very nice sound (better than the other MX's added "ping") and the MZ-5n has the quietest shutter of all, but is followed by the winder sound. The Super Program kicks like a very small pony.

One more nice thing about the ME Super is that it has the nicest sound of them all. It says 'chap' instead of the 'kachunk' of the LX...
