detailed discussion.  Basically, Pentax has built a long-going reputation
for compatibility between bodies and lenses of diferent ages, and we are
all a bit disappointed when two bodies come along (30 and 50) that throw
all that away... just for the sake of saving a few pennies in production
costs.

Like others have already pointed out, this is correct.  As long as you know
and respect this limitation, you have a perfectly good camera.
