This makes sense to me. What stalls the progress now is that most of the current solutions is their cost plus they come with their own set of problems, including ecological ones. I have no doubt that substitutes, various different technologies, etc. most of which is already out there, will eventually be the solution.
Oil will become more costly, and the solutions will become less costly. Economics will drive the solutions.
