Tom,

I buy tokens. 5 for $10, plus some change (can't remember how much). Cash fare is $2.25. I haven't done the math, but I know which one's cheaper <vbg>

Now, I of course know you're being facetious, but there's really no math to do with setting aperture and shutter speed. I think I've told the list my little game I play when I leave the house. "Set the camera manually, then check the meter to see how far off I was". If I'm doing "sunny 16", then it's subconsciously, or I've internalized it, or whatever (except I don't always start with f16, and I don't "calculate" from there). I just set it. And, I'm rarely off by more than a stop. Which means basically, that I'd be able to take an acceptable photo without a meter.

No rocket science. No calculations. No sunny 16. Just 30 odd years (very odd, in my case) of taking photos with ttl metered manual cameras, but ~being aware~ of what the camera's being set to, rather than just keeping an eye in the viewfinder, watching the needle match, and shooting without knowing the exposure.

Not rocket science - sorry for recycyling my stories, but it was relevent to the thread.

<I don't need a smiley, but I will anyway - vbg>

cheers,
frank

But it is rocket science. There is simple arithmetic involved. Much better to use a camera with a built in auto calculator so you don't even have to think about the numbers, much less how to use them. That is really why no one wants to use public transportation you know. Too hard to count your change for the fare.

Do I really need to put a smilely face here?
