Thanks a lot, Mishka. Much appreciated. Yes, it's a Lubitel2 as mid down the following page - the one called "Type with Russian inscription".
http://www.rus-camera.com/camera_rus.php?page=lubitel&camera=lubitel2 Now I know that it wasn't made before 1955. Mine was given to my father as sort of a propaganda gift, when he as a member of a sports team visited the USSR in the late 1950s. I doubt he ever took a single shot with it. My mother did though (even I as a young kid remember releasing the shutter at least once). She would get the film loaded in the shop and set to some fix focus (like in "Not closer than 1,5 meter") and "sunny 16" setting. (The next camera she and our family got was one cheap Instamatic. You can all appreciate what difference there is between negatives from either camera....) A few notes. Mine is the pre 1959 version. However it's top shutter speed is 1/200, and not 1/250 as indicated on the site. Either they got it wrong, or there was an early version of 1/200 s. At the front of the lens, the T-22, there is also what looks like a serial number. It starts off with 552760.... where 55 may indicate year of manufacture. It sure feels good to know that yours is one of the early serieses of those 2,1 million Lubitels that were made.... :-) (Estimated value? How about 10 cents? :-) ) The shutter speeds sound healthy enough. I think I'll clean it up and check if I can get it working as a maybe a fix focus medium format camera for a few selected shots, just for the fun of it and a bit for sentimetal reasons.
