Actually you see that phenomenon even in New England, it manifests
itself a bit differently but not much.

such that the side of that mound with no snow gets
melted, I'd wager...
and then there is drifitng to be considered.
I like the shot , too and the tighter cropping he
just did works for me
but it would be interesting to see even more of
the top cropped -
(Not that you and I couldnt do that with his image
