sRGB color space is safest.

Some minilab machines have controls to improve image quality, but chimpanzee-operators may not know or care enough to use them. Best to assume no image improvement.

Assuming proper exposure, prints seem okay anyway.

Is that about right?

Incidentally, I was thinking about getting my wife the Optio 30, which Pentax advertises as being designed for novices (and which is also priced nicely). Now Pentax has accounced that they will discontinue everything under 4mp, so buying an Optio 30 would mean buying a line that is no longer in production.
