Sorry - been on holiday so only just seen this. Just seems to media dependant for some reason. A case of keep trying different cards till you find one that works. I read that even some sandisk cards don't work in it. Your best bet is to search dpreview for an exact model number of a compatible card which suits you and make sure you get the exact same card - or get one on sale or return...
I think PQI and Transcend seem to be the least likely to work. I am no longer convinced that firmware makes any difference - not in my experience anyway, more a case of luck (try, try, try again). Just be thankful you didn't buy a recent one whith a card which wont work in your camera either! Glad for all the 'heads up' advice on this list which made me buy one in time.
