The purpose of the hydrant is to supply water to
the fire fighters in case of a fire :)

Looking at this shot as geometry and such, I just
liked the form. I actually cropped this
pic down on the left to take out some busy stuff
there that distracted from the subject. But the
reason I stopped to take a pic was the scowling
face on that whatever.

This was truly a grab shot on the run though it
doesn't look like it. I was racing back to
catch my bus and saw the angry face on the
whatchmacallit. THe car wasn't there. When it
pulled up and
there was still a red light the guy in the car
looked to see what I was focusing on. The only
thing I'd
consider doing in photoshop is lightening the face
in the car. However, I'm glad that you noticed
the face on the post
because that _was_ the reason I was interested in
the scene. I always consider the geometry, tho -
automatically.

This was taken , by the way, with the Nikkormat I
couldn't sell and the 50mm lens. There is an
inside joke here
but it may not go across big ponds and I'm fine
with people missing one level of it.

Had I not been worried about missing the bus I
would have stayed there a long time changing
lenses and shooting
more - waiting for the right combo of the face and
a passer by.

I'm a great HCB fan, Cotty :)
But you knew that. and you comment is, of course,
much appreciated
