Or, perhaps a more leisurely approach is needed. Thats not all that long a lens on the 6x7. Field of view similar to what a 300 will see on 35mm format. Its kind of a point it where you think something will happen, and wait for it to happen kind of rig. Fer lords sake, it's over 17 pounds...... I have used the Pentax 6x7 800mm f/4 lens once. It really was a team event, we used 3 people to mount it to a triopd. If one person was going to do it, then I think mounting the tripod to the lens and then standing the rig up would work better. There is significant distance from the tripod socket to the shutter, hence the problem with shutter induced vibration. Using two tripods is a good way to tame the problem. William Robb
