Hi Alex!

The ME is not meant to handle dust well and rain will be its death if you
don't protect it carefully.
Also the top cover is plastic, though quite sturdy.
The ME also relies on batteries for all shutter speeds except 1/1000,
1/100th and Bulb.
It has NO manual exposure control, just Exposure Compensation.
The ME Super is better in the exposure control area but still battery
reliant and not very suitable for your purpose.
The MX is a tougher and FULLY MANUAL, MECHANICAL camera, the rain will still
do it in though if not protected.
The only really well sealed camera Pentax made AFAIK was the LX, superb
camera but unfortunately quite expensive.
If the weight isn't too much of an issue maybe a tough old K1000 or other K
series?
Not water resistant but tough as nails, just don't ever drop it or jar it
hard while it's cocked, it will jam.
