No reason to hate it. It's not as sharp as (my) Tokina 2.6-2.8 ATX PRO II
28-70.
But befor I bought the Tokina I tested the two lenses Petnax 28-80 vs Tokina
28-70.
I could not see the difference in resolution until I enlarged the slides to
a 50 times enlargment: 1.2 x 1.8m meter.
So, this lens is actually good value for money. I made many brilliant
photographs with this lens.

Fair enough...

The down-side is that it's slow - you'll need a lot of light.

I'd keep them all, unless the A 100-300mm is optically equal to the FA
version, which is a dog.

Actually, it *is* an FA. When I said "A 100-300mm", I just meant "A" as in the indefinite article, but I realise now that I wasn't being very clear. It's this version of the FA, though: http://www.bdimitrov.de/kmp/lenses/zooms/long/FA100-300f4.7-5.8.html - and not this one: http://www.bdimitrov.de/kmp/lenses/zooms/long/FA100-300f4.5-5.6.html - which I'm now hoping is the one you are referring to.

OK. I just subscribed to this list. Thought I might start by telling you about my most recent acquisition. I just bought an ME Super and a couple of lenses at a net auction, on a time of the year when not a lot of people care to place bids at such sites, I'm assuming, so the price was not very high...

Anyhow, I'll now have

   * A MZ-20 body
   * An ME Super body
   * A 28-80mm (power)zoom - you know, the one a lot of people seem to
     hate.
   * A 100-300mm zoom - not the one with the bad reviews this time, but
     the latest model; got it second hand a short while ago; it could
     hardly have been used at all.
   * A 70-210mm/4
   * An A-50/1.7
   * Another M or A 50/1.7
   * A 150mm/3.5

All the lenses are Pentax SMC.

So, any comments on this equipment? Also, I've actually considered
selling some of the lenses, as they do overlap a bit, as you can see.
That's if I can face the idea of parting with them... So, which ones do
you reckon should go? One of the 50mms is an obvious candidate, and so
is the 28-80 if I can get something else in the range, and I think I saw
a used 35-80 in one of the local shops (would that be a better lens?),
but how about the long zooms?
