There is nothing wrong with this lens. A small amount of focus shift during zooming is thought to be tolerable by the manufacturer. This is clearly stated in the manuals of the A, F and FA lenses which recommend focusing zoom lenses after adjustment of the focal lengths because of a slight focus shift. For my part most zoom lenses that I have tried (including the SMCM 80-200/4.5) show a slight focus shift (if you are picky). This does not affect the optical quality of those lenses but you have to be aware of this (do not focus before adjusting the focal length). Enjoy.
