Exactly Cotty. Most people are like a children "Here it is - the newest toy. I want it mummy!!!". Let's start to treat cameras like
a tools, not toys.
But cameras are toys to the majority of the people on this list, and to the majority of people who buy them. Unless you earn a living with the thing, it ain't a tool, it's just something you want to own.
Normally I'm in tune with your philosopical bent, William, but this time you're not quite right with it...
I'm not an auto mechanic, nor do I make money using my mechanic's tools, but I'd sure be lost without them!
Same for other shop and hand tools.
Some folks can and do...I simply have them for my personal needs.
So, if I'm not making money with them, it's "mere" hobby use?
I'm very capable with my tools, and for whatever infrequent use they get, they're indispensible to me...
Same with my cameras. No, I do not use them every day, nor do I make any money showing or selling my images. They're strictly for personal satisfaction.
But, I know I loved using the camera and lens I chose to do the job, and I am continually trying to get the best out of what I have.
Hardly toys to me...
