I just have purchased a Minolta Scan Dual IV scanner, and I have some
questions about scanning.

The maximum resolution supported is 3200dpi, which seems way too much
for scans intented to be put on the web. But I have read somewhere
that I should *always* scan at maximum resolution, because a lower
resolution scan does not contain as much information as a high
resolution scan downsized. Is this true or just a myth?

Somebody on the list asked later for scanners which have batch
scanning capability (don't recall who was it). This scanner can batch
scan a film strip (6 frames).

What's this hype around Vuescan? Does it actually performs better than
the manufacturer's software?

Can you recommend some tutorials/books about postprocessing photos in
Photoshop?

Thanks,
Attila
