Well, I was going to suggest "FDISK C: /MBR" but a little searching on
Microsoft's web site indicates that rewrites the code at the beginning
of the sector, but not the partition table itself.  I had been under
the impression that it copied the backup partition table, too, but I
was wrong.

If you're running Windows 2000 or Windows XP the recovery console might
help out.

to ditz about with the MBR and the partition tables.
