The histogram needs to reflect all the in camera settings for other than RAW 
capture but it does appear to be affected by the camera settings when shooting 
RAW too (as suggested by John).

The histogram of a RAW file in both the Adobe RAW import plugin and the Pentax 
stand alone convertor is affected by the "exposure/sensitivity" adjustment 
control so even they don't provide an option to display the histogram of the 
actual data captured pre-processing.

I still find the in camera histogram extremely useful as a guide to setting 
exposure however.
