I doubt that the bodies AF motor is direct drive, I assume that it is geared as
the shaft rotation speed is quite slow (relative to the speed of even a high
torque DC stepper motor). But in any case the AF shaft on the AF TC that I
own spins quite freely and is extremely unlikely to introduce even the
slightest extra load on the system. I would assume that if the TC was badly
designed and the AF shafts did not couple correctly then maybe this would
cause a slow-down of the AF speed otherwise I can't see how this might
occur.
