Don, the delay is insignificant. It's like the AF, generally, happens almost instantaneously.
If you forget to press the green button, it doesn't mean you'll miss the shot, because you'll get it at full aperture (or the aperture set on the lens) anyway - maybe not what you intended, but it might still be good enough.
I just used an M135/3.5 at f8, f16 and f32, with and without pressing the green button, and with matrix and spot metering, and I got every frame looking perfectly exposed.
I'd get it - it works.

Subject: spam: The "Infamous Green Button" Good or Bad??

I've stayed out of this one so far but, .......................

Since I may be in a position to purchase a *ist D in the next week or so
(home re-finance),
I have a few questions about the "Green Button" method for "Pre-A" lenses.

1.) How much time is actually wasted having to "pre-meter" with K/M lenses,
1/2 second? 2 seconds? More? Less?
2.) Have any of you actually missed an important shot waiting for, or
forgetting, the pre-meter step?
3.) Can this method be used in conjunction with "Spot" metering?

Since I have little problem using Spotties, Ks and the MX it doesn't sound
like any big deal.
Agree or dis-agree?

Don (Was going to wait but didn't expect the money to sorta fall in my lap)
