going to have to keep looking and looking. you'll be looking for the * lenses. they are rare and go fast, not to mention pricey. both lenses you mention in AF mount will be a couple of thousand in good shape. MF won't be much cheaper. the 500/4.5 is too hard to deal with for wildlife if it is the manual aperture version. the M* 300/4 can be had for quite a bit less but it is on the shorter end.
