Thanks for your comments. The background was a black curtain and the picture was shot in the evening so it was quite dark but the stage lights gave it a bit of a muddy cast so I corrected the cast a little bit and adjusted the levels in photoshop to darken the blacks but at the same time not burn out the highlights.
Exposure was 1/15 at F5.6 focal length approx 200mm.

I should add that it's a nice, artsy composition. The lower right almost begs for a signature. Did you darken the background or was it really that dark? About my cropping comment, it might benefit from very slightly more space to the right and top so the other hand is noticeably closer to the edge than the other two points. Hey, I like asymmetry. I really like this image.
