I've been using an Epson 3170 since July. It seems to do a fine job on C41 when used with the bundled Photoshop Elements 2.0, but I use it mostly for 6x7 transparencies. There seem to be mixed reviews for using this scanner with 35mm negs and trans - some people comment that is depends on what advanced features you use and don't use. For example, the unsharp masking works very well with some images, but is counterproductive with others.
Also, the scanning resolution seems to match the optical resolution at 3200 dpi (as per spec), even though you can select higher dpi for scanning. Jim www.jcolwell.ca
