I had to remove the aperture lever shield on my Vivitar Series 1 70-210/3.5 to use it on the MZ-5N and MZ-7 bodies, but it worked OK on the SuperProgram and LX. The newer Series 1 70-210/2.8-4 with KA mount fits all four bodies with no mods, as does the "almost Series 1" 24/2 prime.
On a different but related topic, I have successfully modified two of my M42 Series 1 lenses (200/3 and 35-85/2.8) by drilling a hole on the back face of the M42 mount to fit the K-mount securing pin. You can remove the spring steel clip from a M42 to K-mount adapter and then use the lens just as if it was a real K-mount, except that you now have a manual aperture lens. Jim www.jcolwell.ca
