George Soros is a Hollywood liberal who poured millions of dollars into
527 groups like moveon.org. I guess he felt he had to help Kerry by
trying to match the Republican war chest. Instead he may well have lost
the election for Kerry because he prompted conservative fringe groups
like the Swift Boat Veterans to respond in kind. In any case it's over,
and both Kerry and Bush were gracious in addressing the nation this
afternoon. That alone is a big change from 2000 and reason for at least
some cautious optimism.
