I think that's because you're the photographer and have an investment of memory and emotion in the photograph. I agree with Ann's comments, and would like to add that light tones are always dominant over darker tones in a b&w photograph, so if it's not the subject it will tend to pull the eye away from the subject. -- Cheers, Bob
