Sounds the same to me. IIRC the batt.check button is not wired
directly, it employs brass contacts. It is not that much difficult to
remove the top cover on K2DMD, I scanned a service manual which is
somewhere on the web now, at a PDMLer's website. Once there, you could
have a look at the batt.check if it's sticking.
On the other hand, with a camera as old as K2DMD I would suggest sending it for
good CLA
anyway.
