I wouldn't do that. I really like the long mount, and the two mount holes. But mostly, I like the "handle-like" quality of the long mount. I often use it without the monopod, but hold the lens mount in my left hand while my right hand operates the camera controls. This seems to me to be a bit more stable, because it gives me the extra inch or two to rest my left elbow on my abdomen/ribcage. TTYL, DougF KG4LMZ
