Probably it's just me not being so fast to notice much of a difference between the 'reponsive' and the 'jerky' GUI.

i've had a machine with 1G of RAM for almost 2 years now, been running 2K on
it since last summer, and plan to up that to 3G after i upgrade to XP. the
same thing happens at work on my XP Pro machine. CPU intensive processes
like Photo Laboratory cause the GUI to pause and get jerky when updating.
this includes things like the Task Manager graph. my other Win2K machine has
dual processors and doesn't suffer this even though it only has 750MHz
processors. upgrading from 1 to 2 processors reduced the jerkiness a lot but
not completely, even though it's a pair of 2.8GHz Xeon processors. maybe i
am more sensitive than you are, but i know what it's like running on a whole
variety of Unix-based operating systems, even Linux on the same hardware,
and they are a lot smoother.

I just startet a conversion and browsed, absolutely no problems, same
speed
as ever. I didn't fiddle around with priorities or stuff, I just startet
the
conversion and went on browsing.
