Welcome, Jon.

It's just that you don't get it up on the chimp-view. With the *istD, one has to wait until the image is saved to card, and then push a button two times to see it. > (and a third, not so important it seems) 3. some odd > ergonomic/interface quirks... I have hands for size 10 gloves, and think that the camera is a bit too small for my hands. However, this is entirely up to personal preferences, and cannot be assessed without holding the camera yourself. > For those of you who have used this camera extensively, how much of a > problem are the two (three) above-mentioned issues? Also, are there any > other weird problems you have had with the *istD that have bugged you > more and more over time (more related to the third question)? There's one thing. The Av and Tv control wheels can stick between clicks. This is a problem with the vertical grip attached. If the Av wheel is stuck between clicks on the camera, the one on the grip will not work, and vice versa. And same for Tv of course... More of a problem with the grip than with the camera itself, really. > How well does the istD work with manual focus lenses? Like a breeze. > I ask, because I have two lenses. Just remember that the AOV will be different with the *istD. A 35-105mm zoom becomes like a 50-150mm zoom. or should I consider getting a "proper" DA lens? The confusion may be because this was an issue with the first version of the firmware. It's fixed in an upgrade, and works like this: If you select the aperture manually (any other setting than the "A"), the *istD can't sense which aperture is chosen (it lacks the mechanics needed). So to meter the exposure correctly, the camera has to stop down the lens for a bit to do the job. What you do is to select the aperture, press a button to trig the metering, and shoot away. If you need a new metering, just press the button again. Jostein
