There is actually  quite a large contrast range in the image.  If you
are shooting jpeg dial in a lower contrast.  Optionally shoot it in RAW
and adjust the contrast when you convert.  The *istD(s) should manage
the contrast range fine if you tell it to use it's full range (set to
low contrast).

Or meter manually using a grey card or the zone system or whatever
method you desire because the distribution of light and dark on the
image could confuse the multi segment metering.
