Using any camera in the snow, you should use spot metering with a grey
card or a handheld incident meter. If you must use center weighted or
matrix metering, give it plus two stops exposure compensation. Of
course this is when the snow is almost full frame. For other
situations, adjust accordingly. But you can't go wrong with the grey
card and spot meter or the handheld incident meter.

I found out the hard way over the weekend that the istD's evaluative
metering doesn't work in the snow. While I was out, I switched to
manual and
got the right settings through trial and error. Thank goodness for the

screen!
So which is better on the istD in the snow, center weighted or spot
metering? Or should I just learn to eyeball it?
Thanks,
